Sexual Shame Sharing Circle (online)
Shame dies when stories are told in spaces of acceptance.
In these sessions, participants will take turns sharing what we have sexual shame about. When someone is sharing, the rest of the group will engage in active listening to observe their own emotions while holding space for others. Group facilitators Grace and Jess will provide journalling prompts to encourage further reflection and emotional processing.

The ART of Communication: What Languages Do You Speak Workshop
Join Gabriola Arts Council Artist in Residence, Jessica ᒦᖒᐊᖅᑏ Miinguuaqtii and special guests, Celeste Johnson and Pablo Ochoa for a workshop exploring The Art of Communication. They will lead a discussion on how language shapes our perception and our perception shapes our reality through the lens of their own unique experiences with spoken languages (Inuktitut, French, Spanish, English and more). Following the sharing circle, you will be invited to engage in non verbal communication through the languages of visual art, music and dance. You will be guided through abstract mark making and intuitive movement exercises paired with live violin music.
Abstract Composition: Individual Exploration to Collective Collaboration
Join Gabriola Arts Council Artist in Residence Jessica ᒦᖒᐊᖅᑏ Miinguuaqtii as she guides you through the spontaneous creation of an abstract composition. Participants will complete an intuitive painting exercise resulting in an individual abstract artwork, then be invited to collaborate on a collective piece using similar approaches. This workshop encourages you to trust your intuition, problem solve, identify similarities and celebrate differences, all through a simple and profound abstract art exercise involving black paint and white paper.
