February Sixteenth Nineteen Forty-Seven will be screened as part of the Cinema Showcase of the 34th edition of the International First Peoples' Festival PRÉSENCE AUTOCHTONE on August 9, 2024 at 8:00pm.
In this film created by Jessica Miinguuaqtii, Inuk Elder Levinia Brown shares the oral history of how she was born on February 16, 1947 while her family was travelling by dog team across the open tundra. Her story is illustrated by cutout stop motion animation of hand sewn Inuit wallhanging designs in the style of her own artwork.
